About the book.

In a future where psychic abilities can be bought and sold as commercial services, Glen Runciter runs a company that specialises in protecting businesses from people with unusual mental abilities.

When Runciter and his team are caught in a mysterious explosion during an assignment, the survivors begin experiencing something deeply disturbing. Their world appears to be changing around them, with familiar objects and technology behaving in increasingly impossible ways.

As reality itself seems to become less reliable, Joe Chip struggles to understand what has happened to his team and whether the strange changes have a rational explanation.

What to expect.

Ubik is one of the stranger recommendations on the Cyberpunk 2077 list. Rather than focusing on traditional cyberpunk imagery, it explores corporations, technology, altered perception, identity and the frightening possibility that reality itself may not be what it appears to be.

If you enjoy the more surreal and philosophical side of Cyberpunk 2077 — particularly stories involving technology, altered states of consciousness and questions about what is real — Ubik is well worth exploring.
