The Hunger Games

About the book

In the nation of Panem, twelve districts are controlled by the powerful Capitol. Every year, each district is forced to send two young people to compete in the Hunger Games — a brutal contest where only one competitor can survive.

Katniss Everdeen volunteers to take her younger sister's place and is thrown into an unfamiliar world where survival depends on skill, determination and knowing who she can trust.

What begins as a fight for survival becomes a challenge to the system that controls her world.

What to expect

Expect survival, resourcefulness, exploration, danger and a protagonist who has to make the most of the limited resources available to her.

If you enjoy the Minecraft experience of gathering what you need, adapting to dangerous surroundings and finding ways to survive against the odds, The Hunger Games offers a much darker take on some of those ideas.
